There for the grace of God go I

So, the end of Stavanger 2008, the European city of culture. Norway’s biggest cultural happening, ever.  The closing ceremony was absolutely fantastic, with a 1000 strong choir and 25000 spectators singing “Deilig er Jorden”. The hair on the back of my neck stood up. You can read more about it here, Norwegian only, or here, in English.

“The whole closing performance centres around a thought-provoking song on climate change, written by British playwright Caryl Churchill. The performance ends on an optimistic note with the artists – joined by the large audience – singing out the message of a sustainable planet for all. Simultaneously, a child will set sail from Vågen to share the Stavanger region’s cultural message with the world at large.” – Stavanger 2008 official website

About skinke

Since buying my first digital camera 8 years ago (a Fujifilm finepix f310 for those interested) I have been hooked on photography. I'm primarily interested in landscapes and static scenes, but recently I've discovered macro photography and wildlife photography too. My hobbies are golf, fishing, and travelling, so the photos necessarily reflect this.

Great shot! The crossing lines and the well lit church make this out of the ordinary.
