Contrast

Sandvika is a place of contrasts. On the one hand, the politicans have ruined an old town centre by allowing a shopping centre monsrosity to be built there. (Oh, and there’s the  6 lane motorway going through the town too.) On the other hand, a pretty river runs through the town and Claude Monet lived here for a while. He famously painted “Løkke bro” while here.

I had a nice cycle from our flat at Vøyenenga down to Løkke bro, and was sitting on a bench enyjoying the sunshine when I noticed this shopping trolley lying half-in and half-out of the river. It just struck me as sad that such a pretty spot was ruined by thoughtlessness. Then two drug addicts appeared on the other bank and proceeded to inject themselves with God knows what. So in the end it was the prettiness that was the exception. Sad.

About skinke

Since buying my first digital camera 8 years ago (a Fujifilm finepix f310 for those interested) I have been hooked on photography. I'm primarily interested in landscapes and static scenes, but recently I've discovered macro photography and wildlife photography too. My hobbies are golf, fishing, and travelling, so the photos necessarily reflect this.
