  • Nature is strange

    The record just keeps being extended. 60 days now, and still counting. Having said that, and fed up as I am of snow, it’s much more pleasant to watch the snow falling gently as opposed to rain pouring. Photofriday has Nature as the challenge this week.

  • The lightness of the mist

    The cold weather spell continues…who would have guessed that I’d be wanting rain on the west coast of Norway? But there you are, we have to accept what we are dealt. The sinking temperature in the evenings makes the moist air above the frozen lake freeze, so the sunsets become quite spectacular. Photofriday has lightness…

  • Emerging dog

    The recent snowfall was a bit annoying for those of us who’re not dogs, but you can’t help but smile when she so obviously enjoys the winter conditions.

  • 46 days

    We set a record today. In all the years since Sola outside Stavanger has been the official weather station,(since 1952)  there has never been snow for 46 consecutive days. It looks like it’s going to last for at least another week too, so the record should be safe for another 56 years.

  • In moonlight, everything seems bright

    The moon tonight was amazing. I set the camera to f/11 and 1/160sec exposure at 200 mm and let fly:) I’m looking forward to Saturday when we can see the biggest moon of the year.

  • Damaged

    This week’s challenge on Photofriday is “Damaged”. Store Stokkavann has stayed frozen for a whole month now, and all the skating and temperature changes have taken their toll on the ice. It’s actually pretty scary skating when the ice begins to crack and move as the sun sets.

  • A hidden side of Rogaland

    I had never been out to Eikeland before, but a well judged wrong turn brought me there. Perfect for a little exploring and some photography.

  • Cold tree

    The spectacular winter weather we’ve been having lately has thrown up a whole host of good photo opportunities. This tree just looked lonely and cold in the winter sunshine.
