  • Behind bars

We went for Alexanders 3 month check-up today and amazingly he’s grown even more! From 3.5kg at birth and 49cm, he’s now 7.51kg and 62cm. He’s more than doubled his body weight. He also got his first vaccines today which may account for him looking worried before we went to the doctors.

  • Victory

Not in the traditional sense though. The runner in shot finished last in his 400m heat at the VIVIL games here yesterday. VIVIL is a sports organisation for the mentally handicapped, and every year they have a sporting day. It was really good fun to see all the cameraderie and laughs that were being had…

  • Freedom

On the 5th of May 1945, a man named Georg who had been imprisoned during the war wrote to his sister and her husband (who happened to be my grandparents) and told them about his experiences. It’s a fascinating historical document, and well worth a read (in Norwegian). It makes you think about the sacrifices…

  • Glowing grass

After a long day at work I had to get out this evening and catch the last rays of the sun as it set behind the mountains. The spring has come late here, and the farmers have only just got the grass planted for hay later on.

  • 17th of May

A great national day was had by all, not least Alexander who got to try his new national dress costume for the first (and let’s be honest – only) time. We had a good grill party in the evening and we’re thanking our lucky stars that it’s not the 18th of May that’s the national…

  • The silver lining

The evening before the national day gave us a great sunset. Let’s hope that tomorrow delivers:) We’re having some guests over for a late lunch/early dinner tomorrow as well as watching the parades.

  • My world

It doesn’t really seem credible that beside one of the most heavily trafficked roads in Norway there are areas of real beauty. This is only 50 yards from the E16 road to Bergen, but I wonder how many of the people in the cars know about this. This weeks challenge on photofriday is “My world.”

    Some smiles on a Thursday

Alexander has been lent a really cool bouncy chair by auntie Anne-Grete and uncle Haakon. It plays music when he stamps on special footpads and it has blinky lights too. Needless to say he loves it. Let’s hope he doesn’t get bored anytime soon.

  • Depth of field excercise

I was lucky enough to get to try a 24mm f/1.4 lens last week and the possibilities are endless. I took this crouching in the river just across the road from our flat in Sandvika.

  • Angles

We were in Oslo a couple of weeks ago to visit my sister and the weather was fantastic. We (I) had a few beers, but before I got too inebriated I managed to take this photo of the buildings next door.

  • Bathing season

The bathing season has officially started here in Sandvika, and despite the river being, well, cold as ice, the dog loves it. She’s been swimming every day for the past week and been loving every minute of it. The golf courses are opening too, so soon it’ll be summer. Strange to think that it’s May…
