Gutten med seljefløyten

I’ll be the first to admit that this isn’t the best or most outstanding picture I’ve taken, but the picture has historical significance. The painter Christian Skredsvig painted one of the most famous paintings in Norway, “Gutten med Seljefløyten” here. The stamp below shows the original.

Spot

We were out for a walk in the woods today and came across a field of nettles where there were loads of butterflies. I’ll be the first to admit that the peacock butterfly isn’t the rarest, but it’s pretty. This weeks photofriday challenge (www.photofriday.com) is Spot.

Ropes and wood

The tall ships races in Stavanger last weekend gave ample opportunities to take photos of rope and wood. Together with the smell of tar and sea it was a great experience.

The 2011 Tall ships races are in town (www.tallships.org) and the sun finally came out today. I saw the sunset and had to break off some top-level Midsomer murders watching to go and take pictures.

Things to do on a rainy day

The weather has been atrocious today so what to do? I’ve toyed with the idea of trying to take some stylised baby photos like you see in photographers gallery windows. I’ve got a long way to go, but this is a first effort.
